Across California, immigrant families are navigating growing fear and uncertainty as immigration policies and enforcement practices make it harder to access health care and other essential supports.
Even when families remain eligible for services, fear of immigration consequences, concerns about how their personal information may be used, and the threat of detention and family separation can lead them to forgo benefits, delay care, and withdraw from their communities.
These experiences are undermining the health and wellbeing of children and families.
In our latest research brief, Through Their Eyes: How Immigration Enforcement Is Undermining the Health and Wellbeing of Children and Families, produced by the Center for the Study of Social Policy and The Children’s Partnership, we draw on interviews with community health workers, promotores, and other trusted frontline providers throughout California to understand how immigration policy and enforcement practices are shaping families’ daily lives, access to services, and health and wellbeing.
