How TCP's Grant-Making Supports Community Partners

How TCP’s Grant-Making Supports Community Partners

Nada Hashem, Manager, Grants Administration

At The Children’s Partnership, a large part of the grant money we receive goes out to community partners. These pass-through funds have a direct impact on children’s health equity in California.

Grantmaking often happens behind the scenes. We’re proud to highlight our team member Nada Hashem, who makes grantmaking supportive, accessible and empowering.

Here’s what Nada says:

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to create processes for our grantees that are easy and compliant, structured and adaptable and, most importantly, human-centered and supportive.”

Nada’s work allows new ideas in children’s health to become a reality. For example, she’s working directly with eight California high schools to support the development of peer support programs.

Through a partnership with the CA Department of Health Care Services, each school is getting pass-through funds for youth mental health, as part of an historic $8 million investment in the innovative Peer-to-Peer Youth Mental Health High School Pilot Demonstration project.

In 2025, it can be hard to stay rooted in hope and opportunity. At TCP, our talented, diverse staff keep us focused and moving forward for children’s health equity. This is what Nada has to say:

“Here’s where I find hope:

in my teammates, with their genuine determination to make sure advocacy is truly community informed and rooted in making real change.

in our partners—their hard work, their commitment and the way they come together to build collective power in the pursuit of justice. I love learning about the incredible work our partners do, and I’m constantly inspired by their dedication.

in our impact—hearing firsthand about the positive changes happening in the lives of California’s youth, thanks to the high school leaders spearheading peer-to-peer mental health programs. I’m so lucky to be a part of their journey, supporting them as they bring their vision to life and share their progress.

This work isn’t easy, but knowing we’re in it together—and seeing the difference it makes—keeps me going. 💙

This is the kind of work I’m proud to do every day.”
