A Letter of Solidarity to Dolores Huerta
Dear Dolores,
We lift you up as the mother to a generation of activists and community leaders – your own children and those whom you’ve inspired to reach for justice.
As a mother and a survivor, you know how difficult it is to protect yourself and the ones you love. We’re grateful to you for your work in keeping the flame of the farmworker movement bright and steady. We’re saddened that you had to do that in spite of the personal violence that came to you from someone so close and so public.
We’ve seen how much you mentor and lift up women – from the beginning, when you made sure organizer meetings had child care so women farmworkers could be involved, to now, as the next generation of chingonas are stepping into their power, we’ve seen how much you mentor, lift up, and work in solidarity with all women and other people who have been historically excluded.

We’re so grateful that, at 96, you’re still showing us how to lead with compassion, survival, tenacity, and honesty.
May this day mark a new time of accountability and justice for women and girls. To borrow a phrase you coined: ¡sí, se puede!
Con amor y fuerza,
The Children’s Partnership
