The Children’s Partnership is a team of smart, forward-thinking, collaborative advocates committed to child health equity. We are looking for individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of marginalized children in California and across the nation.

We’re Hiring: Health Care Policy Manager
Are you passionate about making California’s health care system work better for every child and family? Do you believe our system needs to better respond to the needs of families, especially those from marginalized communities? Do you love turning complex policy into clear, actionable solutions—and working with partners to bring those solutions to life? If so, we want you on our team.
At The Children’s Partnership (TCP), we’re a California-based advocacy organization working to advance child health equity through bold policy, innovative research, and authentic community engagement. We believe that all children deserve a fair shot at a healthy, bright future—and we’re looking for a Health Care Policy Manager who’s ready to help us make it happen.
Here’s what the role is all about:
You’ll play a key role on TCP’s health care policy team—leading policy research and analysis, and supporting advocacy efforts to advance policies that expand children’s health coverage, improve access to care and create the conditions for all children to thrive. You’ll track legislation, analyze proposals, and develop policy materials that help move ideas from insight to impact. You’ll also represent TCP in coalitions and partnerships, working closely with advocates, policymakers, and community leaders to ensure that solutions reflect the lived experiences of families across California.
This position is ideal for someone who understands how structural racism shapes policy and is committed to finding the levers within policy details that can advance child health equity. You pair policy expertise with advocacy know-how—translating complex ideas into action and thriving in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
We are looking for someone who:
- Brings a deep understanding of California’s health policy landscape—including Medi-Cal and the health delivery system for children and families from marginalized communities.
- Is thoughtful, curious, and analytical—able to distill complex information into clear, accessible insights.
- Operates independently and with good judgment—knowing when to take initiative, when to ask for help, and how to course-correct if something isn’t working.
- Approaches their work with an equity lens—considering who is most affected by policy choices and how to advance fairness and inclusion in every task.
- Communicates with clarity and purpose—crafting policy briefs, talking points, and materials that make a difference.
- Is organized, dependable, and detail-oriented—able to manage projects from start to finish and meet deadlines with precision.
- Enjoys building relationships—connecting with partners, coalitions, and colleagues to move shared goals forward.
The Details:
This is a full-time position that may be based anywhere in California. The salary range is $70,000–$85,000, depending on experience and skill set. TCP offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision premiums; life and long-term disability insurance; a matching 401K; generous time off; and dedicated professional development funding.
